WOLA Announces New Board Members

Washington, D.C.—Today, WOLA (the Washington Office on Latin America) is pleased to announce the addition of two accomplished individuals to our Board of Directors. The new Directors—John Dinges and Juan Gonzalez—have dedicated their lives to human rights and regional Latin American issues, and continue to lead truly outstanding careers.

John Dinges is the recipient of the Maria Moors Cabot Prize for excellence in Latin American reporting and the Media Award of the Latin American Studies Association. As NPR Managing Editor, he shared two DuPont-Columbia University prizes for broadcast journalism.

Additionally, Mr. Dinges has written three books on major events involving the United States and Latin America, following his time as a special correspondent during the period of military governments and civil wars in South and Central America.

Juan Gonzalez currently serves as Associate Vice President at the Cohen Group. Before that he amassed nearly 16 years of government service at the State Department, the National Security Council, and the Office of the Vice President. As Special Advisor to Vice President Joe Biden from 2013 to 2015, Mr. Gonzalez was the principal architect of the Vice President’s regional engagement during the second term of the Obama-Biden Administration.

“WOLA is grateful and honored to count on the leadership and deep experience of our newest board members, John Dinges and Juan Gonzalez,” said WOLA President Matt Clausen.
