Ware, Mass. – On October 26, a woman made a shocking discovery: two soaking wet kittens, one who had collapsed on the bank by the water near the West Main Street Bridge and one who appeared to be dead. The woman managed to flag down a resident in the area who rushed one of the kittens inside to warm up and called Ware Animal Control. When authorities arrived, they discovered that both animals were still alive and took them to a nearby shelter for treatment. The kittens, now named Rain and Puddles, made a full recovery and have since been adopted.

Authorities believe that the animals were dumped or thrown into the creek. They received a tip that a large black truck (possibly a Ford) was on the bridge that morning and that a witness saw someone throw what appeared to be a trash bag, which could have held the kittens, into the creek. Police are investigating but have yet to make any arrests in the case, which is why PETA is offering a reward of up to $5,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for this crime.

“It takes a disturbing lack of empathy to dump or toss two tiny kittens off a bridge and walk away,” says PETA Vice President Colleen O’Brien. “PETA urges anyone who recognizes these kittens or has information about this case to come forward immediately before anyone else gets hurt.”

Anyone with information about this case should contact the Ware Police Department at 413-967-3571.
