This ‘Stranger Things’ Star Was Inspired by Woody Harrelson to Go Vegan

If you’re anything like the millions of folks who loved the first season of Netflix’s original series Stranger Things, you’re probably in the midst of binge-watching the much-anticipated second season. And while there’s tons to love about the show’s newest character, Maxine “Max” Mayfield (like her super-rad throwback ’80s Madrid skateboard), delight in knowing that off-screen, actor Sadie Sink is vegan.

In a recent interview, Sadie called herself a “passionate vegan” and said that her favorite documentary is Blackfish. She was vegetarian for roughly a year, but while working on the film The Glass Castle, Woody Harrelson and his family influenced her to go vegan.

Sadie admitted that at one time in her compassionate journey, she longed for her favorite childhood dish, chicken and waffles. But just as everyone who makes the switch to vegan living finds out, everything can be made vegan—and she was stoked to find delicious vegan chicken and waffles at Cafe Sunflower while filming Stranger Things in Atlanta.

Eating animal flesh is strange indeed. Go vegan today.

Going vegan may not give you psychic powers like Eleven (that we know of), but vegans are less prone to suffering from obesity, heart disease, cancer, and diabetes than meat-eaters are, which means you’ll be in tip-top shape to outrun the Demogorgon.

PETA has everything that you need to begin your own compassionate journey.
